Black Bean Burgers

These burgers are easy to make and have a lot of flavour. We try and eat vegetarian at least twice a week. These are fantastic fresh but can also be frozen.

2 Cans Black Beans – drained, rinsed and divided

1\2 Green Bell Pepper – finely chopped

1\2 Red Bell Pepper – finely chopped

1\2 Medium Red Onion – finely chopped

2 Cloves Garlic – chopped

2 Tablespoons Oil – divided

1 Teaspoon Cumin

1\2 Teaspoon Chili Flakes

1\2 Teaspoon Smoked Paprika

1 Teaspoon Chili Powder

1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce

2 Teaspoons Fresh Parsley

1 Large Egg

1\2 Cup Breadcrumbs

Salt and Pepper to Taste

Toppings of your choice

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in Sauté pan over medium heat, add peppers and onions. Cook until slightly browned 4-5 minutes
  2. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute
  3. In the bowl of food processor, add cooked vegetables, beans, cumin, chili flakes, smoked paprika, chili powder, worcestershire sauce and parsley. Pulse until combined
  4. Pour contents of processor into a bowl with the remaining beans, egg, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper to taste, mix well until combined.
  5. Using ice cream scoop, form into patties, makes between 6-8 patties
  6. Heat oil in frying pan over medium heat, cook burgers 4-5 minutes per side until slightly browned and heated through
  7. Serve on your Favorite Bun with the hamburger toppings of your choice.
